We have exciting news from Earth Craft Virginia right here in Mathews County. Hunter Johnson, owner of Hunter’s Contracting was pleased to receive notification from Earth Craft Virginia that the house he built for the White family in Mathews received a Platinum level certification as well as Energy Star 3.0 certification!
Achieving any level of Earth Craft Virginia certification is quite an accomplishment. Many builders may be intimidated by the process to achieve the levels of building performance required to carry the Earth Craft Virginia name. It requires an attention to detail from the builder and his crews from the beginning of the process all the way through to completion, especially in the areas of air sealing and HVAC. With our help your high performance goals can be achieved.
I have never met an Earth Craft builder that said the process was a simple one, but then, the best things in life never do come easy do they? However, I have also never met an Earth Craft builder that did not say that learning the Earth Craft way of doing things had forever changed the way they built homes for the better. They often have commented to us that they wish they knew about this program long ago!
Meeting Earth Craft requirements touches almost every aspect of the construction process from the initial siting of the house, to the size, window and door selection and placement, insulation levels, and sizing of HVAC equipment. From the very beginning of the design review to the final diagnostic testing we are working with you all the way. It is this attention to all the many small details that all work together that creates a high performance home that today’s homeowners are looking for.
In addition to meeting the requirements of Earth Craft Virginia, Hunter’s Contracting also achieved Energy Star certification. As with Energy Star requirements on appliances, the requirements for Energy Star homes are continually raising the bar for performance. Hunter’s Contracting was able to meet even the most recent stringent 3.0 guidelines which certainly are something they can be proud of.
Not a bad showing for Hunter Johnson’s first attempt at both Energy Star and Earth Craft. We are looking forward to where they go from here.
